Together for Greater Safety at Sea
Two organizations with one shared mission: saving lives at sea. Through the partnership between Jotron and the Norwegian Society for Sea Rescue (Redningsselskapet), advanced safety technology is combined with operational rescue expertise to create greater safety for everyone who ventures onto the water.

A collaboration dedicated to saving lives
Safety at sea is about more than technology, rescue vessels, and emergency preparedness. It is about people. About preventing accidents, saving lives, and ensuring that everyone returns home safely.
That is precisely why the partnership between Jotron, and the Norwegian Society for Sea Rescue is so important.
Both Jotron and the Norwegian Society for Sea Rescue work every day to make the sea a safer place. We share the same fundamental values: a strong commitment to safety, a dedication to saving lives, and a common vision of eliminating loss of life at sea.
How our advanced technology has helped NSSR
For almost 60 years, Jotron has developed emergency and safety equipment designed to raise the alarm when accidents occur. Products such as EPIRBs, PLB, and AIS-SART play a vital role in the rescue chain by helping rescuers locate people in distress more quickly. At the same time, the Norwegian Society for Sea Rescue is there when help is needed most, with crews working every day to save lives along the Norwegian coastline.
For Jotron, the partnership with the Norwegian Society for Sea Rescue is a natural extension of our commitment to developing technology that enhances safety at sea.
"Partnering with the Norwegian Society for Sea Rescue is a perfect fit. They often rely on Jotron products being carried by people in distress to locate them quickly and efficiently. Together, we are part of the same rescue chain, where the goal is always to get help to those in need as quickly as possible and ultimately save lives," says Vegar Pettersen, Sales Director Maritime at Jotron.
"At the Norwegian Society for Sea Rescue, we are proud to have Jotron on our team. Over the past two seasons, we have worked together to provide fishermen with important preventive knowledge and information through the Safe Fisherman campaign. Fishing is among the most dangerous professions in Norway, and this partnership helps strengthen safety and save lives," says Janne Oddaker, Secretary General of the Norwegian Society for Sea Rescue.
The collaboration between the Norwegian Society for Sea Rescue and Jotron also involves equipment testing and the sharing of expertise.
"By combining our operational experience with Jotron’s technological expertise, we aim to contribute to better products and increased safety for users," says Oddaker.
Industry insights that help us innovate
Through this partnership, Jotron supports the Norwegian Society for Sea Rescue’s important work in promoting maritime safety, prevention, and education. At the same time, the collaboration provides us with valuable insights from those who face real-life challenges at sea every day. This knowledge helps strengthen our product development and our ability to deliver reliable solutions that can make a difference when every second counts.
One example is our involvement in initiatives aimed at the fishing industry and the recreational boating community, where the goal is to increase awareness of safety, preparedness, and the correct use of lifesaving equipment. Together, we strive to ensure that more people are better prepared should an emergency situation arise.
A safe journey – our common goal
Although Jotron and the Norwegian Society for Sea Rescue have different roles, we share the same objective: creating safety and peace of mind for everyone at sea. Through technology, expertise, and preparedness, we contribute to a stronger safety culture and a safer maritime future.
Because, at the end of the day, our shared mission comes down to one thing: saving lives.
